Improving CDG File Sound Quality

Postby Vadak Subramaniun » Sun Jan 02, 2005 11:07 am

I notice that my midi and kar files sound much better than
the CD+G files? I thought it should be the other way around.
Is there any settings change that will solve the problem?

Also, will KaraWin be able to play the CD+G files created by
a program like Karaoke Home Producer (also known as
Karaoke Pro)? I want to buy karaoke pro because I find from
the demo that creating karaoke files is very easy. Will only
buy if I can use the files I create on KaraWin.

Subra.

The Pro version will play any mp3+g file even if created with a home producer software! I use the pro version to play all my mp3+g & direct CDG reading and I can tell you, you won't find a better sound due to the excellent Bass Audio audio engine use in this software!

Michou,

I surely must be doing something wrong.

1. For Output Port I have chosen Microsoft GS Wavetable SW instead of Midi Mapper.

2. For Reset Midi I have chosen None instead of GM, GS and XG.

3. I have checked Audio CD+G.

Are these settings right? If so, is there any diag tool that I can run to see if I have my sound card and other related s/w set up right?

Thanks for helping.

Sorry for taking so long for the reply!

First, if you are playing an mp3 or any non-midi file, the output should be the name of your card like SB Live or something like that. The setup you are playing with are for the midi output, I can't tell you which to use with out knowing which audio card you are using!

When you check the cd+g, it's for a direct cdg reading from your cd-rom or cd-rw burner, no impact if you are reading an mp3+g file from the hard drive.

Karawin uses the Bass audio engine which is one of the best sound engine in the industry, no other jukebox player will give you a better sound except the Xmplay player that also uses the same audio engine!
